Impeach Judge Jay Bybee

PLEASE write to your U.S. Representative (go to congress.org to find their contact info) and urge him or her to impeach Judge Jay Bybee immediately.

The Los Angeles County Democratic Party passed a resolution a few days ago, urging the U.S. House to begin impeachment preceedings against the Judge.

Here is the text I used to contact my rep, based on the text from the resolution:

I urge you and the other members of the United States House of Representatives to begin impeachment proceedings against Judge Jay Bybee of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Charge him with facilitating the authorization of torture while employed by the United States Department of Justice.

Judge Bybee signed the "Bybee Memo," or "Torture Memo" of August 1, 2002, which advised the C.I.A. that "cruel, inhuman or degrading" treatment was at times allowable under U.S. law, and authored, co-authored and signed other memos on "extraordinary rendition" and "enhanced interrogation," more of which are being currently revealed to the American public as the new administration brings them to light.

Judge Bybee has shown disregard for international law and the Geneva Conventions. He must be removed from the bench immediately.
